Thorns of Ivy

Thorns of Ivy formed in the late 1990s, originally calling themselves The Black Thorns. They came up during a grunge scene that was already crowded, and their early recordings had some raw energy but hadn't yet found what would become their sound. The band is a trio: Aetheria handles vocals and keyboards, Raven plays guitar and programming, and Morpheus is on bass with backing vocals.

Their song 'As the Last Leaf Falls' became a breakthrough single for them. It's got a hypnotic melody and vocals that feel haunted, and it connected with listeners in a way their earlier material hadn't. Other songs like 'Children of the Nightshade' and 'From Grace to Tragedy' show the same mood, lyrics that deal with loss and solitude, set against atmospheric guitar work and solid bass lines.

They've put out albums with titles like 'Whispers of Winter' and 'Echoes of Eternity.' The music pulls from alternative and gothic rock, with some ambient textures mixed in. Their creative process is collaborative, with all three members contributing to the writing and production.
