A vocal group whose polished soul and disco sound peaked with the 1974 ballad 'When Will I See You Again.'
For their sound, start with 'When Will I See You Again.' If you want something a little less familiar, try 'You're Gonna Miss Me.'
They helped define the Philadelphia soul sound in the 1970s, especially with their hit 'When Will I See You Again.' That song's gentle, yearning quality still feels like a quiet moment in a crowded room. Their harmonies also showed up on MFSB's 'TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia),' which became a disco anthem.
The trio formed in Philadelphia in 1963 with Fayette Pinkney, Sheila Ferguson, and Valerie Holiday. After their 1974 peak, the original lineup ended in 1976, but the group kept going with various members, including a self-titled album in 1980 when Ferguson returned.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
