A Memphis crew that turned dark, slow beats into a platinum sound.
For their early sound, check out Mystic Stylez. Stay Fly captures their later, more accessible side.
Their 1995 debut Mystic Stylez defined horrorcore with macabre lyrics and menacing production, drawing criticism but building a cult following. Songs like Slob On My Knob and Stay Fly later mixed that Memphis grit with more polished hooks, pushing their sound into the mainstream without losing its edge. They showed how regional underground scenes could reshape rap's boundaries.
Formed in Memphis in 1991, they started with the dark, heavy sound of Mystic Stylez. By 2000, When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 went triple platinum, and their production evolved toward tracks like Late Nite Tip. DJ Paul and Juicy J kept the group going through lineup changes and solo work until Lord Infamous's death in 2013.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
