Throne

Throne came together in London around vocalist Lyra and guitarist Ethan, who had known each other since childhood. They started playing small venues, working through the usual early struggles while developing their sound. Their track 'Wolves Beyond The Border' shows the kind of direct, charged writing they were doing at the time.

Their music often leaned into raw, personal territory, which sometimes drew criticism for being too explicit. They didn't really back away from that approach, even when it caused friction. You can hear that unvarnished quality in songs like 'Roundhouse Kick To The Face' and 'Everyone's Grudge'.

They kept writing and recording, putting out material like 'Magic Tricks For Expert Magicians' and 'Freakin' Out'. The work from that period holds onto that initial intensity, even as their arrangements got a bit more developed.
