Archive material and source history
Thunderstorm formed in 2003 when vocalist Anna Kopylova, who goes by Annabel, teamed up with guitarist Vasilisa Groza. They were joined by bassist Ekaterina Maksimova and drummer Maria Kulagina, making them an all-female metal band from Russia. Their debut album 'Hammersmith Odyssey' came out in 2008, followed by 'Dawn of Thunder' in 2012 and 'The Prophecy' in 2015.
Annabel's vocals and the band's aggressive sound drew attention, though being women in metal meant facing some skepticism. Vasilisa Groza left the band in 2018, replaced by guitarist Natalia Filimonova.
