Thupethy was a Brazilian rock band that formed in the 1980s. Their song 'Poema de Um Louco' became something of an anthem, and they released several albums including 'Quero Ser Feliz' in 1986, 'Simples de Coração' in 1988, 'O Bom' in 1990, and 'Domingo' in 1995.
Renato Russo handled vocals and guitar for the band, with Marcelo Bonfá on guitar and Fernando Bardot on bass. Cazuza was also involved in the early years. Their music sometimes drew political attention, and they faced some censorship at the time.
Other songs like 'Pra Gente Namorar', 'Amor Proibido', 'Dona Gisa', and 'Vida de Cachorro' show the range of their work. They had a following in Brazil that kept their music in circulation long after the band's active period.
