An Absurd And Unrealistic Dream Of Peace

From the fields of the burning wheat

to the corners of the black arcades

we hold our hopes like cigarettes

then we leave them dying in the grass

the road is running out

we've seen it over our shoulder

With everything thing we (did??)

fields of flowers

(barbed wired??) towers

they're in recession

with everything we (said??)

freedom faded

like voices ringing

I feel it drifting away

when you raise your head

and you fall down to your knees

while you wait for Him (/her???)

we're running fast as we can

down the street with no end

last night I had a dream

we were floating in the sea

with flags all around

but now the colours have washed out

they were not innocent or free

and your bombers ride in the shotgun sky

they all turned into lights

spread like stars across the trembling black night

they're calling you now

make a sign of the southern cross

and I will follow you (???)

tears of wonder

rolling thunder off in the distance

with everything we (did???)

freedom faded
