Tierramystica formed in 1999 with four musicians: Rodrigo Faour on vocals and drums, Ximena Alarcon on vocals and flute, Raul Alarcon on bass, and Jaime Mallqui on guitar. They started releasing albums in 2000, beginning with a self-titled debut that included 'Winds Of Hope (Suyanawayra).' That song became their most recognizable piece, and they followed it with albums like 'Puerto' in 2002, 'Destino' in 2005, 'Alas de Esperanza' in 2008, and 'Camino' in 2011.
Their music drew from Andean traditions but mixed in folk, rock, and electronic elements, which sometimes drew criticism from purists. They kept at it anyway, recording a live album in Peru for 'Alas de Esperanza.' Other songs in their catalog include 'Spiritual Song,' 'Myths Of Creation,' 'Vision Of The Condor,' and 'Away From The Dream.'
