Tigercub

Tigercub formed in Bristol around 2014, with Jamie Hall on vocals and guitar, Jim Cratchley on drums, Tom Hingley on bass, and David Hall handling keyboards and guitar. They put out their first EP, 'Abstract Figures in the Dark,' in 2015. A few years later, the single 'Stop Beating On My Heart (Like a Bass Drum)' got some real attention, with its angular guitars and driving rhythm cutting through the usual noise.

Their sound pulls from post-punk and garage rock, with a touch of shoegaze haze in the mix. Lyrically, they tend to circle themes of alienation and complicated relationships, which you can hear in songs like 'Control' and 'It's Only Love.' They followed up with albums like 'Repressed Emotions' in 2018 and 'Divine Providence' in 2021.

Their live shows have a reputation for being pretty chaotic, which hasn't always sat well with everyone. There was also a brief plagiarism accusation in 2020 over a song called 'The Sun Also Sets,' but it didn't stick. They keep touring and putting out records, with tracks like 'As Blue As Indigo' and 'Beauty' showing up in their setlists.
