Timbre Original formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1997 with Fernanda Takai on vocals, Martin Mendonça on guitar, Marcelo Camelo on bass, and Rodrigo Veloso on drums. They put out their first album simply called Timbre the following year, then followed it with Álbum in 2000 and a live recording in 2002. Their song 'Ao Meu Jardim' came out in 2003 on the album Escuta.
Camelo left the band in 2007 to work on his own music. The group kept recording after that, releasing Machina in 2005, Descoberta in 2008, and Sabe Você? in 2011. They put out Querido Mundo in 2014. Some listeners found their approach to music unconventional.
In 2018, there were claims that a song from Querido Mundo borrowed too much from another artist's work. The band said this wasn't true. Their catalog also includes tracks like 'Biometria Rap' and 'S.O.S Saúde (part. Lil Seven).'
