Tiny Santana formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2003 around vocalist and composer Rodrigo Amarante, with Rafael Castro on violin and Thiago Franca on drums. Their early sound was experimental enough to catch attention in Brazil's indie scene.
In 2006, the band released "Sem Radar," a single that became their breakthrough. Amarante's falsetto and the song's melodic quality connected with listeners across Brazil, giving the group national recognition.
They followed with their debut album "Jardim Botânico" in 2008, which mixed folk, pop, and electronic elements. Later albums included "Futuro do Pretérito" in 2010 and "Pra Ser Feliz" in 2014. Amarante left the band in 2012 to work on solo projects, but Tiny Santana eventually regrouped and continued making music.
