Mc Tiozinho

Mc Tiozinho was a Brazilian funk group that formed in the late 1990s, led by Alexsandro Luiz de Souza who took on the Mc Tiozinho name. They came from Rocinha, a favela in Rio de Janeiro, and their music reflected that environment. Their breakthrough came in 2002 with the song "Funk do Tiozinho," which became widely popular across Brazil with its catchy beat and humorous approach.

The group's music blended funk with rap and samba elements, and they released several albums including Funk do Tiozinho in 2002, O Baile do Tiozinho in 2003, and A Vida É Funk in 2004. Other songs like "Dança do Saci Perere" and "Ex Crente" continued in their distinctive style. Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism for explicit content, but they maintained a following for their direct representation of favela life.

Beyond Alexsandro Luiz de Souza as lead vocalist, the group included Anderson Silva as DJ and producer, and Thiago de Souza as another vocalist. They kept recording through the 2000s, with Funk Ostentação arriving in 2010.
