Tiro De Gracia

Tiro de Gracia came out of Santiago in the mid-1990s, a time when hip-hop was still finding its feet in Chile. Their 1996 album "Ser Humano!!" was the record that put them on the map. The track "El Juego Verdadero" from that album became something of an anthem, its lyrics speaking to social inequality in a way that connected with a lot of people.

The group was formed by the brothers Juan and Luis Sativo, who performed as Zaturno and Lenguafil de Sapo, along with Mauricio Melo, known as Cenzi. Their music didn't shy away from difficult subjects, which sometimes put them at odds with authorities. Songs like "América" and "Bebedor" carried a direct, politically charged energy that defined their early work.

They followed "Ser Humano!!" with albums like "Decisión" in 1998 and "Retorno" in 2010. While their sound was rooted in hip-hop, it often incorporated Latin rhythms, giving it a distinct local flavor. More than just making records, they helped establish a space for hip-hop in Chilean music at a time when it was far from mainstream.
