Tito Torbellino came together in Colombia during the 1980s, with Tito Rojas handling vocals. They worked out of Cali, mixing cumbia, merengue, and salsa into something that caught on. Their first album, "La Cita," came out in 1986 and gave them a national hit with the title track.
Other records followed, like "El Mambo de Cali" in 1988 and "El Sonido de la Alegría" in 1991. The band's lineup included William "El Palenque" Lopera on bass, Diego "El Tigre" García on saxophone, and Wilfredo "El Cucho" Palencia on drums. They kept playing through some pushback about how they sounded and performed.
Later albums included "Baila Mi Cumbia" in 1993 and "La Salsa de la Alegría" in 1995. Another song people remember is "No Eres Tú, Ahora Soy Yo."
