Tobin Sprout

Tobin Sprout was born in 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he grew up with Mormon musical traditions. He started listening to the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Bob Dylan early on, which shaped his approach to songwriting.

In the early 1970s, he formed The Bees with his brother Reed, and they put out an album called "Psychedelic Moods" before breaking up in 1976. After that, Sprout began releasing solo records like "Carnival Bob" in 1981 and "Moonflower Plastic" two years later. Songs such as "Bottle Of The Ghost Of Time" and "Carnival Boy" show his lean toward folk-rock with a psychedelic touch.

His music tends to be introspective, with lyrics that drift between loss and spiritual questions. The melodies often feel airy and dreamlike, a quality that comes through in tracks like "Gas Daddy Gas" and "E's Navy Blue." He kept recording through the 1980s, with albums including "Carnival of Souls" and "Ghostland."
