Tom Paxton

Tom Paxton was born in Chicago in 1937. He started writing songs while attending Antioch College, drawing from the folk tradition of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. His early albums like 'Ramblin' Boy' and 'Ain't That News' came out in the early 1960s.

He wrote 'Last Thing On My Mind,' which became a standard covered by many other artists. Other songs from his catalog include 'Bottle of wine' and 'Daily News.' He kept recording through the decades, with albums like 'Morning Again' in 1968 and 'New Songs for Old Friends' in 1986.

Paxton's writing often addressed social issues. He performed at rallies and for causes, and other folk singers like Joan Baez and Judy Collins sometimes sang his material. He continued to write and perform into later years, maintaining a connection to the folk scene that first shaped his work.
