Tom Porto Rico is a Brazilian band fronted by vocalist and songwriter Paulo Ricardo. They formed in the early 2000s, with Ricardo coming from Porto Alegre. Their debut album arrived in 2005, titled 'A Tag de Hoje (Em Relacionamento Complicado).' The title track from that album became a hit, a ballad about complicated modern relationships that connected with listeners.
After that initial success, the band kept releasing music. They put out a second album called 'Álbum Dois,' which had a more experimental sound than their debut. They also released a live album titled 'Ao Vivo.' In 2015, they released their fourth album, 'Canções de Amor e Revolução.'
Paulo Ricardo was known for being outspoken, and some of the band's lyrics stirred discussion. In 2007, their song 'Três Pessoas' sparked debates because it dealt with polyamorous relationships. The band's music blended rock and pop with Brazilian rhythms.
