Their 1978 single 'Glad To Be Gay' became an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community at a time when such topics were rarely addressed in popular music. The song faced radio bans and criticism from conservative groups, but the band continued to perform it on tour.
Their debut album 'Power in the Darkness' came out in 1978 and included both 'Glad To Be Gay' and '2-4-6-8 Motorway.' The latter became one of their better-known tracks, showing they could write straightforward rock songs alongside their more politically charged material. They followed with 'TRB Two' in 1979 and 'North by Northwest' in 1982.
Robinson's lyrics often dealt with discrimination and social justice, as heard in songs like 'Up Against The Wall' and 'Better Decide Which Side You're On.' The band's music provided a platform for LGBTQ+ visibility during a period when such representation was scarce in mainstream rock.
