Archive material and source history

Tommy Edwards was an American singer from Cleveland, Ohio, born in 1922. He started recording for Federal Records in the mid-1950s, putting out early songs like 'I Really Don't Want to Know' that showed his baritone voice. His career took off in 1958 with 'It's All in the Game,' a song written by Charles Dawes and Carl Sigman that spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard chart.

After that hit, Edwards faced some personal troubles, including a drug possession conviction in 1961 that led to six months in prison. When he got out, he signed with MGM Records and kept recording, with songs like 'Last Night' and 'Knock Three Times' finding some success. He toured and performed for years after that.

Edwards died in 1998 at age 76. He's remembered mostly for 'It's All in the Game,' but his catalog includes other songs like 'Please Mr. Sun' and 'Honestly And Truly' that show his vocal style.
