Tommy Rall formed in Wilmington, Delaware with four members: Tommy Rall on vocals, Mike Sullivan on guitar, Dan Wilson on bass, and Chris Carter on drums. They played local clubs before getting a record deal.
Their debut album "From This Moment On" came out in 2003, featuring the title track that became their best-known song. They followed it with "The Great Escape" in 2005.
Chris Carter left the band in 2007 and was replaced by Matt Johnson on drums. Keyboardist Dave Ross joined in 2009. The band faced some challenges including substance abuse issues and a legal dispute with a former manager over royalties.
