Toninho e Jonas

Toninho e Jonas were a Brazilian duo who started making music in the early 1980s. Their song 'M de Mãe' became a hit, a simple tune about a mother's love that connected with people. They also recorded songs like 'Jesus de Nazaré' and 'Filho Pródigo' that reflected their interest in spiritual themes.

In 1984 they put out an album called 'Tempo de Paz' (Time of Peace). The title track was a plea for world peace, and its lyrics stirred some debate at the time, with some critics calling it too political. The duo consisted of Toninho, who sang and played guitar, and Jonas, who handled guitar and composition. Their partnership seemed to be the core of their work.

They released several albums including their self-titled debut in 1983 and 'Tempo de Paz' the following year. Their music drew from traditional Brazilian rhythms but sometimes incorporated other sounds, though they're mostly remembered for those straightforward, heartfelt early recordings.
