Tony Carreira

Tony Carreira was born António Manuel Mateus Antunes Ferreira in 1961 in Pampilhosa da Serra, Portugal. He started writing and performing his own songs as a teenager, often playing guitar. His career took off in the early 1990s with his debut album 'Sonhos de Menino,' whose title track became a major hit.

He's known for sentimental ballads like 'Quem Era Eu Sem Ti' and 'Saudade De Ti' that connect with Portuguese audiences. While primarily working as a solo artist, he has collaborated with his brother Ricardo Carreira, who has served as his tour manager and producer. His music draws from pop, folk, and traditional Portuguese styles.

In 2005, Carreira faced accusations of plagiarizing a French song for his track 'Porque Te Amo,' though the charges were eventually dropped. He has performed internationally, including shows at venues like the Olympia in Paris and Madison Square Garden in New York.
