Tony Dallara

Tony Dallara was born Antonio Dall'Aglio in Naples in 1936. He started singing in local competitions and signed with RCA Italiana in 1957. His voice had a particular warmth that worked well on the Italian pop records of the late 1950s.

In 1958, he released 'Come Prima,' a ballad about lost love that became an international hit. The song's melody stuck with people, and it remains his best-known recording. He followed it with other singles like 'Bambina, bambina' and 'Brivido blu,' which kept him on the radio through the early 1960s.

He performed at the Sanremo Music Festival during that period, though some critics dismissed the event as too commercial. Dallara kept recording, working with musicians like guitarist Mario Perrone. His catalog includes straightforward romantic songs that defined a certain style of Italian pop before the rock era changed things.
