Archive material and source history
Tony Harnell is a rock vocalist from Vancouver, Canada. He's best known as the frontman for the Norwegian hard rock band TNT, which he joined in the late 1980s. Songs like "It Doesn't Matter" and "Tonight I'm Falling" showcase his high-range vocal style, which draws clear influence from singers like Freddie Mercury and Robert Plant.
With TNT, Harnell recorded albums including 1989's self-titled debut, 1992's "Intuition," and 2002's "The Tube." The band's lineup during his tenure featured guitarist Ronni Le Tekrø, bassist Pete Lesperance, drummer Diesel Dahl, and keyboardist Fredrik Bergh. He also worked on a 2008 live release called "Live at the Gods."
Harnell faced a vocal cord injury in the early 2000s that required recovery before he could continue performing. Outside of TNT, he has recorded and performed with other musicians, including collaborations with Def Leppard, Ted Nugent, and Mick Ronson.
