Toranja

Toranja formed in Madrid in 1994, with Santiago Auserón as their singer and songwriter. Their first album, 'Nueve Canciones,' came out in 1997. The band's sound leaned toward indie rock with a reflective, sometimes atmospheric quality.

Their second album, 'Carta,' arrived in 2000 and included the title track, which became one of their best-known songs. Other tracks from that period, like 'Lados Errados' and 'Quebramos los Dos,' show Auserón's tendency toward poetic, emotionally direct lyrics set against spare arrangements.

Toranja put out five studio albums between 1997 and 2009. The lineup shifted over those years, but Auserón stayed at the center, writing and singing on all of them. After 2009, they stopped releasing new music.
