Toshiki Kadomatsu

Toshiki Kadomatsu started releasing music in the early 1980s, around the time city pop was taking shape in Japan. His debut album 'After 5 Clash' came out in 1980, and he followed it with the self-titled 'Toshiki' in 1981. Songs like 'Fly By Day' and 'If You' became part of that era's soundtrack, with their clean arrangements and smooth vocals fitting the urban mood of the time.

The music from his peak period, including tracks like 'The Best Of Love' and 'Office Lady', has found listeners again in recent years as city pop has been rediscovered outside Japan.

Kadomatsu was born in 1961. Before his solo career, he played in a band called Cherry in the late 1970s. His output slowed for a while in the late 1980s, but he returned to recording and has been active since.
