Totalfat

Totalfat formed in Jakarta in 2000 with Arief "Ucup" Utama on vocals and guitar, Ihsan "Icha" Nurrachman on bass and vocals, and Andreas "Andi" Susanto on drums. Their 2009 album "Place To Try" gave them a breakthrough, with the title track becoming something of an anthem. The record's success led to festival appearances outside Indonesia, including Rock in Japan and the Vans Warped Tour.

Their sound was raw and energetic, with lyrics that often touched on social issues, which connected with a lot of young listeners in Indonesia. Other songs like "Good Bye, Good Luck" and "Dance On, My Friends" kept that momentum going. Over time, some fans felt the band had moved toward a more mainstream sound, though Totalfat maintained they hadn't compromised their approach.

In 2010, a performance at a festival was interrupted by violence that left several people injured. The incident drew criticism and sparked conversations about safety at live events. The band continued working through various challenges, putting out music like "Across The Chance" and "Ain't Gonna Kill" while navigating the expectations that came with their growing profile.
