Toy GunGun came out of Tokyo in the late 2000s. Their sound mixed pop, rock, and electronics in a way that felt both accessible and a little different. In 2011, they put out 'The Bravest Destiny,' a single with a big chorus that connected with people. The song seemed to mean something particular after the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami that year.
The band had Junya Morimoto on vocals and guitar, Rio Tsuchikawa on bass, and Aika Hoshino on drums. They worked with a few other musicians, like Yukihiro Takahashi from Yellow Magic Orchestra. In 2014, there was some trouble over a song called 'Summer Guitar' and claims it was plagiarized, which they got past.
They made three albums, all self-titled in sequence: 'The Bravest Destiny' in 2011, 'Toy GunGun II' in 2013, and 'Toy GunGun III' in 2016. Some of their music ended up in anime and video games.
