Toy Subs

Toy Subs came together in a suburban garage where childhood friends James "Razor" Redding and Mark "Mad Dog" Morales started playing music. They brought in bassist Chris "Snake" Thompson and began playing local gigs at dive bars and festivals. The band's debut album "Subversion" featured their single "Apathy 101," which became something of an anthem with its raw guitars and direct lyrics about disaffection.

Their music drew from rock, punk, and grunge influences, and they followed "Subversion" with albums like "Revolution" and "Unleashed." Songs like "Bad Rain," "Negative," and "Skydive" continued in that vein of straightforward, guitar-driven rock. The core trio of Razor, Mad Dog, and Snake remained at the center of the band through those recordings.

Toy Subs built a following by sticking to their sound and playing live. They didn't chase trends or polish their edges too much, which gave songs like "Apathy 101" and "Phrase That Pays" a direct, unvarnished quality that connected with listeners who appreciated that approach.
