TPO formed in São Paulo in 1987 with Arnaldo Antunes on vocals and guitar, Marcelo Fromer on bass, and Paulo Miklos on drums. They signed with the independent label Baratos Afins after some initial difficulty finding a label for their sound.
Their debut album 'Cabeça Dinossauro' came out in 1989. The song 'Camacho Preguiçosa' became well-known and was sometimes censored for its lyrics about a lazy protagonist. They followed with albums like 'Lado Z' in 1991, 'Epidemia de Saudade' in 1993, and 'Osadia ou Covardia' in 1996.
Arnaldo Antunes left in 1998 to work solo. Fromer and Miklos kept the band going until it ended in 2001.
