Trace formed in Los Angeles in 1999 with Simone White on vocals, Pat Spurgeon on guitar, Dave Ryan on bass, and Noah Shain on drums. Their first EP, 'Candlelight,' came out the following year, introducing White's voice over atmospheric arrangements.
Their 2001 album 'Here Comes the Flood' included 'Low,' a song written by White and Spurgeon that became their most recognizable track. The band released several more albums through the 2000s, including 'The Red Sun' in 2003 and 'Shadowbox' in 2006.
Other songs like 'Blood and Bones' and 'Oh My My' appeared in their catalog alongside 'Low.' The lineup stayed mostly consistent during their active years, with White's vocals remaining central to their sound.
