Treepersons

Treepersons formed in São Paulo around 2014, with Otávio Cardozo, Rafael Brasil, and Andressa Loyola coming together through a shared interest in unconventional music. They put out their debut album 'Tropikill' in 2016, which mixed rock, electronic, and Brazilian folk elements. That record helped them build a following in Brazil and beyond, with tracks like 'Segue o Baile' featuring Mariah Marini showing their knack for blending styles without settling into a single genre.

Over the next few years, Treepersons toured internationally and worked with artists like Brian Eno, David Byrne, and Björk. Their music often touched on social and political themes, which drew both praise and criticism. They kept a steady output, but avoided the kind of dramatic career arcs that sometimes get attached to bands from their scene.
