Treija

Treija was a Finnish trio from Turku that formed in the early 1990s. The group consisted of vocalist and lyricist Kari Peitsamo, guitarist and composer Janne Lappalainen, and drummer Mika Taube. They worked with a mix of folk, rock, and electronic elements that didn't always fit neatly into existing categories.

Their song "3-40" came out in 1995 and became their most recognizable track. It's a ballad that caught on with listeners across Finland, though some critics found its tone too dark or questioned whether the band was compromising their sound. Other songs like "Babe In Melrose" and "Distant Zion" appeared on their self-titled debut album, which showed their range across those folk, rock, and electronic styles.

Treija released a few more albums including "Sähkökitara" and "Elävän maan laulu" before disbanding in 2001. Their music had an unpolished, slightly off-kilter quality that made them stand out from other Finnish acts at the time, even if it never translated to sustained mainstream popularity.
