Archive material and source history

Triana formed in the 1970s with Juan José Palacios on vocals and guitar, Jesús de la Rosa on bass and vocals, and Eduardo Rodríguez on drums. They came together during a period of political change in Spain, though the specifics of their early struggles are often told with more drama than documentation. Their first album, El Patio, came out in 1974, followed by Hijos del Agobio in 1975.

Their third album, Sombra y Luz from 1976, gave them one of their lasting song titles. By 1979 they had released Tu Frialdad, which became their most recognized track. The band's sound pulled from Andalusian folk and flamenco, set against rock arrangements, which felt distinct in Spanish music at the time.

They kept recording through the late 1970s with albums like El Calor del Amor en un Bar and A Través de Tus Manos. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social themes, which drew attention. The group's activity trailed off after that period, but songs like En El Lago and Abre La Puerta remain part of their catalog.
