Archive material and source history
Trilop formed in Bolivia in the early 1990s as a trio of brothers Gustavo and Willy Salmón with their friend Marco Veizaga. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1993, mixing rock with Bolivian folk elements. The song 'Lamento Boliviano' appeared on their 1996 live album 'En Vivo' and became widely known across Latin America.
They recorded five studio albums between 1993 and 2005, including 'Subterráneo' in 1999 and '4' in 2002. In 2002, there were accusations that 'Lamento Boliviano' borrowed from a traditional folk melody, though these were dismissed.
