Trimbal

Trimbal was a trio that came together in the early 2000s, with Layne Harper on vocals and keyboards, Max Keller handling guitar and synths, and Ethan James on drums and programming. Their debut single "Confidence Boost" came out in 2007 and found an audience with its upbeat electronic sound.

After that initial release, they put out a few albums over the next decade. 2009's "Accelerate" leaned into dance-pop territory, while 2012's "The Edge" took a more conceptual approach. By 2016's "Return to the Source," they were working with ambient textures and quieter electronic arrangements.

They faced some criticism after "Confidence Boost" gained popularity, with some listeners feeling they'd moved too far toward commercial sounds. There were also legal disagreements over songwriting credits during those years. They kept making music through it, though the trio's activity has been less visible in recent times.
