Trimballys

Trimballys formed in Portugal in the early 2000s around guitarists André Henriques and Diogo Clemente. They started with an interest in traditional fado but began mixing it with electric instruments and contemporary sounds, which didn't sit well with some traditionalists at first. Their debut single 'Dá Beijinho Que Passa' came out in 2002 and became a hit in Portugal, giving them a foothold.

They put out albums like 'Sentimento' in 2003, 'Coração' in 2005, and 'Lisboa' in 2007. Other songs like 'Digitais' and 'Ei Psiu' show their blend of folk melody and pop energy. The lineup included João Veiga on electric guitar, Ricardo Coelho on bass, Sérgio Costa on drums, and Rita Marrafa on vocals alongside the founding duo.

They worked with Portuguese singers like Maria João, Dulce Pontes, and Ana Moura. Their music reached listeners who might not have paid attention to fado before, though it's hard to say how much they changed the genre. They kept touring and playing live for their audience.
