Trimonium formed in Orlando, Florida around 2000 as a teenage quartet. The original lineup included guitarist and vocalist Matt Heafy, bassist Paolo Gregoletto, guitarist Corey Beaulieu, and drummer Travis Smith. They worked through the usual early struggles of a young band, finding places to rehearse and managing limited resources.
Things shifted for them in 2005 with their second album, 'Ascendancy.' That record's lead single, 'Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr,' became a breakout track. Their sound on that album pulled from thrash, metalcore, and melodic death metal. Later albums like 'Shogun' in 2008 and 'In Waves' in 2011 showed them trying different approaches, which sometimes drew criticism from listeners who preferred their earlier style.
Their catalog includes songs like 'A Sign In the Sky,' 'Blood League,' and 'My Blood For Yours.' Drummer Alex Bent joined the group in 2016, replacing Travis Smith. The band has continued to tour and put out new music with that lineup.
