Trindade Roots

Trindade Roots formed in 2009 in Salvador, Bahia, when a group of musicians from the Alto da Colina neighborhood came together. They took their name from a freshwater stream in their community, drawing inspiration from the mangroves that surrounded them. Their debut album 'Manguezal' arrived in 2015, with the title track becoming an early signature piece.

Their music pulls from samba, reggae, funk, hip-hop, and Afrobeat, with lyrics that often address social inequality and environmental concerns. Lead singer Rony Roots writes much of their material. Songs like 'Cultivo' and 'A Luta Permanece' reflect their focus on community and persistence.

They've released six albums, including 'Identidade' in 2018 and 'Festa no Mangue' in 2022. Their work has drawn attention for its direct engagement with issues affecting marginalized communities, which has sometimes brought them criticism alongside recognition like the Prêmio da Música Brasileira in 2019.
