Archive material and source history

Trio Malaquias was a Brazilian vocal group formed by three brothers: Aladim on guitar, Antônio on bass, and Benedito on percussion. They all sang, creating the harmonies that became their sound. Their debut album in 1992 was called 'Brilho Faceiro,' named after the song that became their best-known track.

That song, 'Brilho Faceiro,' along with another like 'Topadas,' gave them a national audience in Brazil. Their music drew from samba and bossa nova, as heard on their 1998 album 'Canto da Mata.' They recorded into the 2000s, with a collection called 'Trilogia' marking about thirty years of work.
