Trio Mocotó

Trio Mocotó formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1994, with Samir Duarte on vocals and guitar, Beto Jamaica on drums, and Marcelo D2 handling bass and vocals. They started playing in local clubs around the Pelourinho district, drawing from the street music around them. Their first album, 'Samba, Batuque e Axé,' came out in 1997.

Their song 'Não Adianta' became widely known, with its straightforward melody and lyrics that connected with everyday struggles. Other tracks like 'Pensando Nela' and 'Voltei amor' kept their sound grounded in samba rhythms while touching on personal themes. They followed up with albums including 'Acústico' in 2001 and 'Ao Vivo no Circo Voador' in 2004.

Their lyrics sometimes addressed social issues, which brought them both attention and occasional criticism. They kept recording, putting out 'O Último Samba do Mundo' in 2017. The music stayed rooted in those early influences from Salvador's streets.
