Tritongos

Tritongos formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1999 with Márcio Mello on vocals, Bruno Mello on bass, and Rodrigo Garcia on drums. Their name comes from the musical interval that creates harmonic tension, which gives you a sense of their approach from the start.

Their 2003 debut album was called "Contrário a Tudo Que Não É do Contra," which translates roughly to "Against Everything That Isn't Against." That title alone tells you something about their perspective. Other songs like "Às Vezes e Vez Por Outra" and "Braguilha Aberta" continued in that vein, with lyrics that often circled around isolation and social observation.

They worked in a space between post-punk, progressive rock, and some electronic textures, though they never settled comfortably into any one category. Their sound could feel both sharp and atmospheric, with arrangements that didn't follow predictable patterns. They kept releasing music through 2019's "O Enigma," maintaining that same restless quality across their records.
