Triumvirat

Triumvirat was a German progressive rock band that formed in the early 1970s. Their music often wove classical elements into rock arrangements, with keyboardist Jürgen Fritz at the center of their sound. They released albums like 'Mediterranean Tales' and 'Illusions on a Double Dimple,' and songs such as 'A Bavarian in New York' and 'The Deadly Dream Of Freedom' became part of their catalog.

In 1977, the band shifted toward a more mainstream approach, which surprised some of their listeners. They continued making music into the late 1970s and early 1980s, with albums like 'Spartacus' and 'Pompeii' exploring historical themes. Later recordings incorporated more electronic textures and space-oriented concepts.

The group's lineup included Jürgen Fritz on keyboards, Hans-Jürgen Fritz on drums, and Helmut Köllen on bass. Vocalist Barry Palmer joined them for a period. Their work remains a particular chapter in the story of European progressive rock from that era.
