Trudy and the Romance formed in Los Angeles in the mid-1980s, led by singer-songwriter Trudy Bliss. The band's early sound mixed atmospheric synths with jangly guitars and Bliss's distinctive vocals, which didn't quite fit mainstream radio formats at the time. They played small clubs and gradually built a following.
In 1988, they released their debut album 'Is There A Place I Can Go,' with the title track becoming an underground hit. The album received attention for its introspective lyrics and ethereal arrangements. Another song from that period, 'My Baby's Gone Away,' also became part of their early repertoire.
The band's lineup included Trudy Bliss on vocals and guitar, Michael Ivey on keyboards and vocals, Kent Stetson on bass, and Brad Rice on drums. They released several albums through the early 1990s, including 'Long After' in 1990 and 'The Lighthouse' in 1992.
