True Faith formed in 1989 with Joey Ayala on vocals, Glen Cruz on guitar, Eloy Manalo on bass, and Lester Enriquez on drums. Their name came from the Cure's song "Faith." They put out their first album, "The Way We Are," in 1990, which included the track "Ala-Ala." That song caught on with listeners and became one of their better-known early pieces.
They released a few more albums in the 1990s, including "Dreamweaver" in 1992 and "Wild Angels" in 1994. Other songs like "Alam" and "Baliw" also became part of their set. The band went through some lineup changes over time, with Carlo Seigfred joining on guitar at one point.
True Faith's music connected with a particular audience in the Philippines during that period. Their recordings from the early to mid-1990s are what most people remember when the name comes up.
