Truls formed in 2003 around singer-songwriter Truls Heggero, with guitarist Christian Løchstøer and drummer Thomas Felberg. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2005, and its lead single "Another Pitch" got some attention in Norway's indie scene.
Løchstøer left the band in 2007, and Jørgen Nordby joined on guitar. Their 2009 album Sincerely included a title track that some read as criticism of the music industry, which caused a bit of friction at the time.
They kept putting out albums like Wild and Free in 2013, The World Is Ours in 2016, and Over There in 2019. Songs like "By Your Side" and "Tear Me Up" show their mix of indie rock with some folk and electronic touches, built around Heggero's vocals.
