Tubarão formed in São Paulo around 2014 when vocalist André "Dentinho" Pereira and guitarist Rodrigo "Farofa" Farolei met at a local festival. They later added drummer Fabio "Bate" Batista and bassist Alex "Cachorro Louco" Santana. The band played small venues and DIY spaces early on, building a following with their punk sound.
Their debut album "Nós Somos o Barulho" came out in 2017, featuring songs like "Então Vai." In 2019, they collaborated with Os Cretinos and Jhef on a version of that track, "Então Vai (part. Os Cretinos e Jhef)," which became one of their better-known songs. Other tracks like "Fluxo de Rua" and "Só Uma História de Amor" show their range.
In 2020, their song "Governo Bandido" was reportedly censored on some platforms. The band has been involved in protests and benefit concerts, maintaining a connection to activist circles while keeping their core lineup intact.
