The United Nation Of Om formed in Philadelphia in 1995. Their music pulls from heavy metal and drone, with some spiritual themes woven in. The band's lineup has included Chris Haskett on guitar and vocals, Tyler Davis on bass and vocals, and Steve Babb on drums. Emma Ruth Rundle contributed vocals for a couple of years starting in 2008.
They released their first album in 2005. A track called "Black Hole" appeared on their 2007 record Ego Death. Later albums like Isis and Osiris and Advaitic Songs explored concepts from mythology and Eastern spirituality.
Their sound is dense and extended, built on slow-building drones and distorted guitar work. Some listeners have found their approach challenging or unconventional. They've kept at it regardless, putting out records like Garden of Grief in 2013 and another in 2017.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
