Tupay

Tupay formed in La Paz in the early 2000s as a collective of musicians working with Andean folk elements and electronic production. Their track "La Saya" became widely known, helping bring their sound to international listeners. The group included Ronald Flores on vocals and guitar, Daniela Gonzales on vocals and charango, Jaime de la Barra on electronics, Marcelo Peña on bass, and Sergio Veliz on drums.

They released albums like Cosmovisión in 2003 and Inti Raymi in 2007, which mixed traditional Andean music with contemporary styles. Songs like "Gringuita" and "Soy Caporal" continued their approach of blending folk instrumentation with modern beats. Their work sometimes drew discussion about cultural representation, though they generally kept making music on their own terms.

By the 2010s they had put out records such as Raíz and Tierra, maintaining their collective approach without much mainstream fanfare. Their catalog shows a consistent interest in Andean roots and electronic fusion, heard in tracks like "América Latina" and "Ay No Se Que Tienes."
