Tupelo Honey

Tupelo Honey formed in 2000 with Chris Coffey on vocals and guitar, Rio Sparks on drums, and Susan Cowsill providing backing vocals. Their debut single 'Because of You' found an audience with its direct emotional delivery, though the band later faced plagiarism allegations that complicated their early momentum.

Susan Cowsill left in 2007, and Andrea Davidson joined to fill out the harmonies. The group kept recording and touring through those changes, with songs like 'Make Me Believe' and 'Morphine' reflecting the personal struggles some members were dealing with at the time. Their music often carried that raw, lived-in quality, even when the arrangements stayed fairly straightforward.

They never became a household name, but they built a catalog that holds up for listeners who found something genuine in Coffey's voice and the band's unadorned approach. You can still hear it in tracks like 'Not Alone' and 'Then Came You', simple, earnest songs that don't try to be anything more than what they are.
